Weeks after the Naga Mother’s Association (NMA) filed an FIR against unknown person(s) on criminal charges for disparaging a woman’s dignity and rights, sources informed that the culprit was identified and owned up to the video recording to the Police within a week. It was also informed that the viral video was from an incident in 2019.

However, despite several attempts, the SP crime was not available for further comments, due to which offences and penalties regarding the case could not be established during the time of filing the report.

Earlier, the FIR stated that some youths, purportedly from Old Minister’s Hill colony, Kohima, had taken video of two young persons in a compromising position and made it viral.

While the NMA filed the report keeping in mind that “everyone had the right to privacy and therefore the youths had violated the girl’s rights when they took video of interrogating her and shaming her publicly.”

It added that if there was any violation on moral codes, the same could have been reported to the respective relatives or community of the two persons shamed in the video terming the act of filming and releasing as a criminal and illegal act.
The NMA in this regard also suggested compensation and apology for the victim.
