‘Cultivate with motive of commercial purpose’

Dimapur, May 3 (MExN): Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Dimapur Niuland Block conducted Kisan Kalyan Karyashalas (Farmers Welfare Workshop) at ADC Conference Hall, Niuland Town on May 2.  

The special invitee, Athrila S (NCS), Additional Deputy Commissioner, Niuland emphasized more on self-sustainability and to cultivate with the motive of commercial purpose. She said that farmers of Nagaland should learn and adopt latest technological practices for intensive farming and not haphazardly. She mentioned about the availability of e-NAM and other platforms for farmers to sell their produce directly from farm. She concluded by saying that the concern departments should perform duties sincerely and recognize the potential farmers and facilitate them with proper guidance.  

The exhibition stalls were inaugurated by H. Berimong, EAC Niuland displayed by women SHGs of different villages under Niuland Block. Free Anti-Rabies vaccination camp was conducted in collaboration with Dept. of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary were around 70 animals were vaccinated. After the welcome address by Hoshito Chophy, SDAO & BTT Convenor, Niuland a pamphlets on ‘Doubling of Farmers Income by 2022’ was released. Presentations from ATMA, Agri-allied departments regarding various activities and Schemes were highlighted by the respective representatives.  

During the second session, Farmers Scientist Interaction between the farmers and Agri-allied departments were conducted in which Thepfusalie, E.E Dept of Irrigation and Flood Control Department and AMC member highlighted about the ongoing schemes and experts from Land Resources illustrated about the prospects of coffee plantation. The programme witnessed 95 participants including both farmers and officials that ended with a vote of thanks by Sentibenla Pongener, ATM, Niuland Block.
