Cultural seminar on festivals of Chakhesang tribe concludes

Phek, July 4 (MExN): The three-day long cultural seminar on festivals of Chakhesang Tribe Paradigm Cultural Functions and Production Grant (CFPG) appreciating the diverse culture of Chakhesang tribe was organised by the Koza Boys Club (KBC), Khezhakeno. The seminar held at Zhipfhemi Community Hall, Khezhakeno village, Phek district concluded on July 4. 


KBC, Chairman, Ezekiel Koza while speaking on the importance of different festivals of Chakhesang people throughout the year, lamented on how “soon we have forgotten our forefather’s history and culture.” Therefore, he emphasized on the need to rethink and rephrase the forgotten festivals and walk into the new future cherishing with new hopes and vision of tomorrow.


The guest speaker, Khupo Koza shared about some important festivals of Kozabomi like Zathokhrü, Kelemvükhrünye, Chüzathokhrü, Baminye, Dzümvüchikhrü, Mowochikhrü, Karakorominye, Chinyezamvünye, Nezhipu, Kajükichimenye, Barükesümenye, Pophfülupfü, Chirüketshü, Rünyeminye, Kürakuluminye, etc. 


He stressed on the need for exposure to widen culture and also adopt culture of the Chakhesang community and Nagas in general. 


During the seminar, importance and significance of Sükhrünye and Tsukhenyi festival were also highlighted. Led by Kovi Ladu, the programme commenced with invocation prayer by Michenvoü Pizou while folk was presented by Kapanyi Ketsu and party.
