CVC issues rejoinder to DDCF news item

Dimapur, March 31 (MExN): Reacting to a news item “DDCF oppose change of nomenclature of Dimapur” published in The Morung Express on March 27, the Chumukedima Village Council stated that the entire land of sector “C” belongs to the Nagas. “As such within the traditional territory, there are sectors to appropriate Naga villages, in which Chumukedima Village happens to be one of the traditional owner of this part of Naga territory, particularly Dimapur,” stated the rejoinder issued by P Beituo Hama, Chairman Village Council, CVC.
“Hence, our desire to change this nomenclature should not be construed as attempt to depriving the rights of the settlers be it from Nagaland or from any part of the country. Should anybody object to such change they may do so in proper manner instead of resorting to use of un-parliamentary remarks in the press calling Chumukedima Village Council ‘sheer idiosyncrasies of big headed individuals’, further stated the note and added that such statement merely denotes dissention and not at all becoming of a respectable forum if there is any.
