Dimapur, September 4 (MExN): The Chümoukedima Village Council (CVC) has extended appreciation to the 5th Assam Rifles for its efforts in busting the illegal spurious liquor plant at 7th Mile Model Village, Dimapur on September 2, and demanded thorough investigation in to the case.
“The bust has saved countless lives and reposed the faith of the public in the service provided by the security forces,” CVC Chairman Razouvotuo Chatsu said in a press release on September 4.
The CVC also censured the ‘sheer incompetence’ of the Excise Department, and said that the department being “oblivious of a nefarious racket of this proportion, set up and smoothly running right under their nose,” evoked presumptive questions on the credibility of the entire excise department.
Disturbed by the existence of such “unethical businesses,” the CVC opined that the racket entails a thorough enquiry “since it is evidently clear that a bigger nexus is involved in it.”
As such, it demanded that the state government set up an investigation team led by capable and incorruptible officers to pursue the case and book all those criminals involved in the trade and award stringent punishment as per provisions of law.
