As directed by the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, the Changki Village Council (CVC) appeared before him today on the matter of the alleged assault and excommunication of four persons from the village including three women in election related violence.
However, the CVC is learned to have denied its involvement in the alleged assault while the district administration maintained that the victims were assaulted in the know of the village council citing the victims’ accounts.
The Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal told this correspondent that police investigations were on and that more light would be shed on the matter in the next few days, adding that necessary steps would be taken once the investigation is over.
Meanwhile, the DC reiterated his earlier stand as directed in the show cause notice and has instructed the CVC to submit the names of the perpetrators involved in the alleged assault. However, when inquired if any deadline was served to the village council for the purpose, the DC replied in the negative but added that disciplinary actions would be initiated against the CVC if they failed to produce the names of the perpetrators.
