CWA 29th wrestling championship 2024 on Feb 9

The 29th Wrestling Championship 2014 of the Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) will take place on February 9 at Chozuba Town. The Under-16 Wrestling championship will also be held on the same day.

Chozuba Range Wrestling Association (CRWA) will host the meet with Chozuba Town Baptist Church (CTBC) as ground management.
Addressing a press conference at Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) complex here today, CWA President Vekhozo Ringa said that Deputy Chief Minister (Home & Border Affairs) Yanthungo Patton will grace the championship as the special guest while MLA & Advisor, CAWD & Taxes, Kudecho Khamo will be the guest of honour.

The prize money for the champion has been enhanced to Rs 2,50,000 along with Lt Chosanyi Rose Memorial Running championship belt and Rs 20,000 and citation. The second, third and fourth position holders would receive Rs 1,70,000, Rs 1,30,000 and Rs 1,00,000 respectively along with citation.  The quarter finalists would also receive a cash prize of Rs 15,000 each with citations, said Ringa.
Under 16 category champion will be awarded with Rs 50,000 with citations while second, third and fourth position holders will receive Rs 30,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively along with citation. The quarter finalists shall get Rs 5,000 each with citations. The group champion will be honoured with Rs 20,000 while the best disciplined team will be awarded with Rs 10,000, he said.
The championship torch shall be lit by first CWA Champion, Pudusa Chizo while Reigning Champion Venuzo Dawhuo and U-16 reigning champion Thuputha Hesuh would be the torch bearer, he said.

The ticket prices for the spectators are as follows: Donors- Rs 2000, Chair Special- Rs 1000, Chair (General) Rs 300 and gallery Rs 150.
CWA General Secretary, Kuzhovesa Soho said that Under-16 participants must be born on or after 1st April 2008 and only church certified documents and immunization records shall be used as age proof. Soho said that referees and management officials briefing will be held on February 8 at 12 Noon.

Meanwhile, the General Assembly of CWA would also be held the same day at 2:00 PM at Chozuba Town where all CWA Executive Council and 2 representatives from each affiliated units are mandatory to be part of the same.
CWA requested all the vehicle users witnessing the wrestling championship to mandatorily place their mobile numbers in the windshield of the car for emergency case and smooth traffic.

Ringa welcomes all the wrestling lovers across the state to the Championship. “We are expecting 15,000 17,000 spectators,” he said.
Chozuba town lies 70 km away from Nagaland's state capital Kohima.
