CWA preps for Wrestling meet

Kohima, February 6 (MExN): Hectic preparations are on for the forthcoming 26th Wrestling Meet 2018 of Chakhesang Wrestling Association starting from February 8 at the Chetheba Local Ground, about 50 km from Kohima.  

The meet is hosted by Chokri Area Wrestling Association with Thenyizu Baptist Church managing the ground by in aid of their forthcoming 75th anniversary.  

With the pitiable road condition of state highway (Kohima-Chakhabama-Zunheboto), Thenyizu village on Tuesday conducted a mass social work to repair the road between Chakhabama-Chetheba in view of the wrestling meet.  

Meanwhile, the ground management committee said that they are expecting around 10,000 spectators. While inviting the well wishers and spectators to witness the wrestling meet, the committee informed that the tickets will be made available at the venue. Tickets are priced at Rs. 1000 for donors, Rs. 200-500 for chairs, and Rs 100 for gallery.  

On February 8, the inaugural function will start from 8:30 am onwards with reigning champion Vechita Khesoh as the torch bearer. Home Minister Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu will grace the inaugural session as the chief guest.  

The Naga style wrestling champion will walk away with Rs. 1.50 lakh while the runner-up will be awarded Rs. 1 lakh. The 3rd and 4th placed winners will receive Rs. 80,000 and Rs. 50,000 respectively.
