CWS constructs Patient’s Park in District Hospital Tuensang

Chang Wedoshi Setshang (CWS), the apex body of Chang students constructed a patient’s park at District Hospital, Tuensang which was inaugurated by Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang on September 27.

During the inauguration, Rutsa emphasised the significance of community participation and commended the CWS for their remarkable contributions not only in the field of education but also in the healthcare sector. She expressed her admiration for the CWS, stating that she had never encountered a student organization that had undertaken such commendable initiatives for the community throughout her entire career.

Highlighted the CWS’s extensive efforts in the district, the DC described them as ‘unique.’ She noted that the CWS had conducted comprehensive assessments of all the schools in the district, identifying and addressing the various challenges faced by these institutions. She specifically mentioned the construction of a classroom for the Government Higher Secondary School Thangjam in Tuensang earlier this year, which was undertaken by the CWS due to a shortage of classrooms in the school.

Addressing another pressing issue, the DC expressed her concerns regarding the drug problem in the district. She urged all stakeholders to unite and actively contribute towards making Tuensang a drug-free place.

Meanwhile, an MoU was signed between CWS and District Hospital in Tuensang. The signatories of this agreement were Pongsu, President, CWS and Dr Puse Liegise, Medical Superintendent of the District Hospital.

The CWS President in his remark credited CWS team for their tireless efforts in completing the project. He highlighted the significant cost savings achieved during the construction of the park, as the CWS officials themselves were actively involved in the labour-intensive tasks.

Pongsu emphasised the CWS’s underlying objective of promoting the welfare of the public. He stated that the organisation is driven by agenda to undertake meaningful initiatives for the betterment of society. Recognising that it is the responsibility of the community to actively participate in creating a better society, the CWS has taken the initiative to implement such projects.

Previously, classrooms were constructed at GHSS Thangjam and GHS Ngoungchung, as well as a Patient’s Park. The organisation has set a goal to donate a bus to Sao Chang Government College by the end of the year, and plans to construct two to three additional classrooms in various villages. 

The District Hospital, Tuensang MS expressed gratitude for the contribution of the CWS and stressed the importance of a hospital as a place of healing and comfort. He commended the staff of District Hospital Tuensang for their achievements and encouraged community participation and a sense of responsibility. 

CWS Vice President, Langasomba gave a detailed project report, revealing that a total of Rs 2,70,510 was spent on the construction of the Patient’s Park. 

The programme was chaired by Awe Chingmak, Finance Secretary, CWS, and the dedication prayer was led by Kamchila, Chaplain, District Hospital, Tuensang. 

Dr Keveduyi Theyo, Chief Medical Officer, Tuensang delivered a speech highlighting the Ayushman Bhava Campaign, which was launched nationwide on September 13, 2023. The benediction was said by Mongsenla, Fellowship In-charge, District Hospital Tuensang.
