Kiphire, December 18 (MExN): The Citizen's Welfare Society (CWS), Kiphire has lauded the joint team of ACAUT and Concerned Citizens of Nagaland for “busting and unearthing” what it called multi-crore PDS rice scam in Dimapur recently.
The Society in a press release extended solidarity to the joint team in their fight against “the corruption that threatens livelihoods, undermines development and dashes hopes for greater social justice.”
Meanwhile, it condemned the “dastardly act” of the Government and law enforcing agency in suppressing the voice of the common people against corruption when it resorted to brute force in dispersing and disrupting the peaceful rallies in Dimapur.
“The Society is also dismayed at the tardy response of the government in dealing with corrupt culprits and criminals involved in the scam. These facts alone suggest the state government’s practice of shielding corrupt officials and criminals that are in collusion with higher rung officials across the department,” it added.
It further appealed to all right thinking citizens of Nagaland to launch a plan to fight corruption.
The Society also backed the demands put forth by ACAUT for a CBI probe into the entire PDS imbroglio.
