CWSK points to ‘irregularities’ & lapses in PDS

DIMAPUR, MAY 1 (MExN): The Citizens’ Welfare Society Kiphire (CWSK) today informed that there are “irregularities and lapses” in the receipt and utilization of Public Distribution System (PDS) for commodities of APL & Sugar for Kiphire district. A press note from the organization stated that “the actual quantity receipt at F&CS Kiphire is 100MT of APL and 150 Quintals of Sugar whereas the Utilization Certificate produce by Director F&CS Nagaland Dimapur shows 200 MT APL & 900 Quintals of Sugar per month for Kiphire district.” It informed that the society had brought this to the notice of the Food & Civil Supplies Department, Nagaland and sought clarification. “However, the department has so far remained insensitive despite reminder to clarify at the earliest.” It reiterated that the “common peoples’ share under various PDS scheme meant for Kiphire has been looted and that we would not be remaining silent anymore.” “For fair practice of the Public Distribution System and to make the system transparent we would leave no stones unturned to unearth the irregularities and if needed be, ready to go to any extent in the interest of the general public of Kiphire district,” it added.
