Chümoukedima, February 16 (MExN): The Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to Maova Village authorities in connection with an alleged attack on the President and members of the Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) on February 13.
In a statement issued by its Information and Publicity Wing, the CYO alleged that certain miscreants from Maova Village were involved in a “planned and premeditated attack” on the CPO President and his colleagues when they had gone to the village in good faith to hold a peaceful dialogue.
The organisation claimed that catapults, rocks and other projectiles were used in the incident, resulting in grievous injuries to CPO leaders and volunteers.
Terming the incident unacceptable, the CYO directed Maova Village authorities to appear in person before CPO leaders at the CPO Hall, Chümoukedima Town, along with Seiboi Changsan, GB, and individuals allegedly responsible for the act, for necessary clarification and settlement.
The organisation stated that the directive must be complied with within seven days from the date of issuance of the notice.
It further cautioned that failure to comply would compel the CYO to take appropriate decisions and actions under Angami customary law and established resolutions, and that the village authorities and the GB concerned would be held solely responsible and accountable for the alleged act of violence.
