CYO slams NHIDCL over snail pace work progress at NH-29

MEDZIPHEMA, SEPTEMBER 21 (MExN): The Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) and the Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) jointly inspected the progress of work on NH-29 between Chathe River Bridge and New Chümoukedima on September 20.

A press release issued by the CYO said the joint team found the progress of work unsatisfactory and going at a snail pace while lacking in quality workmanship. It said only 6 workers were seen working on the site. With the common public suffering to a large extend due to the washed away road; the CYO slammed the lackadaisical nature of NHIDCL, which it said, cannot be tolerated.

The CYO reminded that it had given a representation in 2021 addressing the same issue to the Chief Secretary, conveying strong displeasure on the lack of quality workmanship between Chathe River Bridge and New Chümoukedima by NHIDCL and had appealed for direct and immediate intervention so as to avert manmade disasters that could potentially endanger lives.

However, the Organisation lamented that the state government ignored their representation.

The CYO also sought details on the latest status of FIR filed against NHIDCL by the state government while demanding that non-bailable arrest warrant should be issued to the NHIDCL and those responsible be booked and prosecuted under relevant provisions of the law.

The CYO, meanwhile, appealed the district administration to allow all vehicles to ply through the narrow stretch of road at NH-29 with the help of traffic police personnel. If needed, the CYO is willing to assist the traffic personnel by manning the road to allow free movement of vehicles from both sides, it added.
