Dimapur, Janaury 14 (MExN): The annual games and sports meet 2011 of Chekhasang Youth Organization Dimapur District (CYODD) got underway this morning at Seluophe village. The meet is being organized under the theme “unity through sports”. Azheto Zhimomi, MLA and Advisor, Sericulture and Co-operation, Nagaland along with his wife graced the inaugural programme as chief guest and declared the tourney open. He also unfurled the flag of CYODD.
Speaking occasion, chief guest called upon the youth to avail various avenues initiated by the government for the upbring of the youth. He said DAN government is giving maximum privilege to the youth. He encouraged the participants and organizers of the meet to endeavour to produce good sportspersons through such meet and provide them opportunity to compete in higher level of competitions. He further urged the players to maintain good sportsmanship spirit as they compete against each other. As a token of love he donated a sum of Rs. 75,000 toward the organizers – CYODD, Rs. 30,000 towards the host village and Rs. 3000 each to 15 units/villages that are participating in the meet. The invocation prayer of the meet was said by Suhluveyi Rakho, Director, Harvest Ministry. Venetolu Tetseo presented special number. Host of public leaders and NPF party workers of Dimapur accompanied the chief guest and attended the function. Three disciplines - Men’s football, Men’s volleyball and women’s volleyball will be played in the meet. The meet will conclude on January 15 with Zekotso Mero, SP Dimapur as guest of honour.
