D Khel Council condemns armed robbery attempt at SBI Chedema

Kohima, November 6 (MExN): The Dapfütsumia (D Khel) Council, Kohima Village, has condemned the attempted armed robbery that took place at the State Bank of India, Chedema Branch, on October 31, calling it a direct assault on public safety, peace, and the dignity of the community.

In a statement issued on November 6, the Council said it was deeply concerned and dismayed that such a “brazen and criminal act” was attempted within its jurisdiction. “This behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” it stated.

The Council said the act endangered the lives of bank staff, customers, and civilians in the surrounding area, causing fear and distress among the public. It acknowledged and “highly appreciated” the timely and responsible action of the Bank Manager in sounding the alarm, as well as the quick alertness of the female bank staff who immediately informed the security personnel.

“The bravery and swift response of the on-duty security guards and staff collectively prevented a major tragedy and protected both lives and property,” it said.

Urging law enforcement authorities to intensify efforts to bring the prime suspect to justice, the Council asserted that “crime of this nature must be met with firm consequence to deter any such attempts in the future.”

It further appealed to the public to remain vigilant and to extend full cooperation to the authorities in the ongoing investigation, stating that “peace, security, and communal harmony are shared responsibilities, and we must collectively uphold them.”

Meanwhile, the D Khel Council also expressed appreciation to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Kohima Police for their “prompt and effective action” in apprehending the prime suspect in the October 25 Kohima murder case.

It said the timely intervention of the police in the “tragic and deeply disturbing case” has brought assurance and a sense of confidence to the public that justice will be pursued without delay.
