Dimapur | February 29

DaddysRoad, a popular vehicle safety solution application was launched in Dimapur by the city’s commissioner of police (CP), Rothihu Tetseo, on February 29.

The launching programme was held here at Tenyimi Complex near Hotel Tragopan under the aegis of the Tenyimi Students’ Union Dimapur (TSUD).

Addressing the launching programme, the city’s police chief said streamlining of traffic in Dimapur and Kohima has always remained a nightmare for police and traffic personnel on duty.

Tetseo said a major problem was due to inadequate infrastructure, flouting of rules of the road by motorists and vehicle owners and perhaps shortcomings on the part of traffic personnel.

He said though around 250 traffic personnel are deployed in Dimapur, yet there seems to be shortage of manpower as traffic woes have not lessened. Tetseo attributed the perennial traffic snarls due to lack of latest traffic equipment and technology including electronic traffic signal system. He also said even if additional traffic personnel are engaged, the problem will never be solved without the active cooperation of citizens and vehicle owners and drivers.

The CP also expressed apprehension that once the ongoing road widening of the Dimapur-Chümoukedima stretch and Dimapur-Kohima 4-lane road are completed, then the number of road accidents would rise, due to lack of road etiquette and rash and undisciplined drivers. “These good roads are going to kill us,” he said.

He hoped with the launching of DaddysRoad app, the traffic scenario would improve to a great extent.
An executive of DaddysRoad gave an introduction and demonstration of the application. Earlier, TSUD president, Rukewezo Wetsah, delivered the welcome note.
