Nagaland Women Resource Development & Horticulture Minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse today inaugurated Daklane Panchayat building in Kohima. This building was funded by Kohima Smart City Development Ltd (KSCDL).
Speaking on the occasion, Kruse expressed gratitude to KSCDL for funding the project. She stressed on the need to reciprocate the concerned firms and individuals who extends developmental activities. “We must minimize the volume of criticism from the minds of the people,” she said. The Minister called upon the people to stay united for all round development.
She called upon the residents to get in touch with the department of women resource development and take livelihood activities. She also assured to extend help to the residents in floriculture and horticulture activities.
Earlier, Daklane Panchayat chairman Vibeilie Metha delivered welcome address. Rev Dr DL Sanchu invoked God’s blessings while Acodi & Viwi presented special song. The programme was chaired by Vitshu Vizo while vote of thanks was proposed by Akhavi Tsuipu.

Presenting technical report on behalf of the Project Division and the KSCDL, Executive Engineer Imsunaro said that since its inception, KSCDL has played a pivotal role in transforming urban infrastructure under the Smart City Mission.
The Construction of the Community Building in Ward No. 7 Daklane, Kohima is a significant initiative aimed at enhancing community facilities as part of the Area Based Development strategy, she said.
The primary objective of this project was to upgrade community amenities, specifically focusing on providing modern community halls, adequate parking spaces, and commercial areas.
Additionally, the project aimed to ensure reliable water supply facilities, proper electrification, and a conducive environment for public activities, social support, and information dissemination within the community.
The project was awarded to M/S Engineering Station. The construction involved a G+3 storey building with a total built-up area of 4,623 sqft distributed across different floors.
Ground Floor (519 sqft) featured kitchen and two rooms with one attached washroom, 1st Floor (1,201 sqft) featured a kitchen and three rooms with two attached washrooms, 2nd Floor (1,315 sqft) located at road level serves as a parking area capable of accommodating upto four vehicles, along with washroom facility.
The 3rd Floor (1,588 sqft) houses a spacious community hall equipped with essential amenities such as a kitchen and a washroom, serving as a central hub for community gatherings and public events.
The project commenced on 31st March 2022, following comprehensive tender procedures and the issuance of work orders.
Through diligent supervision by the project team and the dedicated efforts of the contractors, the construction was successfully completed within 18 months, culminating on 12th September 2023.
The entire building is equipped with robust electrification and water supply systems to ensure uninterrupted services, she said.
Notably, a 15,000-litre capacity rainwater harvesting tank installed below the 1st floor contributes to sustainable water management practices.
Imsunaro extended sincere gratitude to all stakeholders involved, including the diligent members of the Daklane Panchayat, contractors and supportive community members.
The completion of the Community Building in Ward No. 07: Daklane marks a significant achievement in our mission to enhance urban infrastructure and community living standards under the Smart City initiative, she said.
