Dakshata training for health care workers conducted at DH, Phek

PHEK, SEPTEMBER 29 (MExN): Phek district successfully conducted a three-day Dakshata training at District hospital, Phek. The training which was conducted from September 26-28 was attended by Medical Officers (MO), GNM and CHO.

According to a press release, the main objectives of Dakshata training was to train the HCW to identify and handle the common cause of maternal and neonatal deaths, follow essential standards and importance of quality care around the time of childbirth, ensuring clinical practices for routine care and management of problems during various stages of labour etc.

The training also empowered the service providers at the delivery points to perform all the evidence based practices for maternity care during labour, delivery and immediate post-partum period to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality.

Facilitators of the training include Dr Pangertemsu (OBG) DH Phek, Azole (MSc nursing) DH and Velulu (GNM) DH Phek.

Some of the topics trained during the training were to ensure quality in Labour room, monitoring vitals, handling of pre. eclampsia and eclampsia, management of prolonged and obstructed labour, essential New Born Care (ENBC) care of mother and new born immediately after birth, handling of PPH etc.
