Phek, June 8 (MExN): Three-day Dakshata training for medical officers and nurses is underway at CMO conference hall, Phek. The training will culminate on June 9.

Dr Pewezo Khalo, DPO RCH/UIP delivered welcome address and highlighted the aims of the training to the participants, stated a press release. 

Dakshata, which means ‘Adroitness’ or ‘Dexterity’ is a strategy to strengthen and provide quality care services during and after childbirth through skilled health care providers.

The main aim of the training is to train the Health Care workers to provide quality service to the mother & child during delivery with an objective to reduce maternal and child mortality during childbirth in all the Health Units. The training topics includes Care of mother and newborn immediately after birth, how to handle prolonged and obstructed labour, ensuring Quality in Labour room etc. During the training dummies were used to demonstrate normal delivery, newborn resuscitation etc.

The facilitators were Dr Pangertemsu, Gynaecologist & Obs DH, Azole Staff Nurse and Velulu Staff Nurse DH Phek.
