Nagaland Chief Minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu today received NDA Presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind at Dimapur, who arrived by special flight from Imphal.
Later in a closed door meeting held with Nagaland legislators at IMC Hall Dimapur, the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) under the leadership of Chairman DAN and former Chief Minister, TR Zeliang extended unanimous support to NDA nominee for the upcoming presidential election to be held on 17 July.
A press statement from the Press Secretary to DAN Chairman informed that the meeting was chaired by Zeliang while welcome address was delivered by Chief Minister.
Apart from Ram Nath Kovind; short speeches were delivered by BJP National Gen. Secy, Ram Madhav and NEDA National Convenor, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
While extending support on behalf of the DAN, Zeliang pressed upon Kovind to remember the State of Nagaland when he become the President of India, it added. Kovind was accompanied by Union Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar; BJP National Gen. Secy, Ram Madhav; Lok Sabha MP, Rakesh Singh; Rajya Sabha MP, Ram Vichar Netam; NEDA National Convenor, Himanta Biswa Sarma and a host of Ministers and dignitaries from various States.
It must be mentioned here that the Naga People’s Front (NPF), on June 21, had already announced that it will support the NDA nominee Ram Nath Kovind in the forthcoming Presidential election scheduled to be held on July 17.
NPF Party President and Chief Minister Dr S Liezietsu recently informed that “NPF is a permanent ally of the BJP and NDA, and considering that the NPF is also a principal component of the NEDA, the NPF-led DAN Government will vote without any hesitation in favour of the candidate proposed by the NDA to be the next President of India.”
He stated that the Naga People’s Front party has always been an ally of the “non-Congress national party” since the late 1970s and that this alliance was renewed and strengthened in the early part of 2003 when the non-Congress political parties came together and formed the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland.
Therefore the NPF-led DAN government will vote without any hesitation in favour of the proposed NDA candidate in the coming Presidential election, Dr. Liezietsu had stated.
