Dimapur, December 1 (MExN): Giving another jolt to the DAN government, two more DAN legislators, Forest Minister Kheto Kinimi and Parliamentary Secretary Kihoto Hollohon today put in their papers and resigned from the NPF party and gave up their portfolios.
Confirming his resignation, Forest Minister Kheto cited deteriorating law and order situation and spiraling price rise of commodities, as the main reason that compelled him to resign from the post and withdraw his support to the NPF party. He said that the NPF party has become a place of discomfort for him to stay. However, he refused to divulge his further course of action and declined to say which party he would join or support.
Parliamentary Secretary Hollohon, who had withdrawn his support to the DAN Government earlier this year for a couple of days, has once again withdrawn his support ‘for the sake of listening to his voters.’
Refusing to cite any specific reasons, Hollohon, this evening, made known that he is not against the policy of any particular political party. He asserted that his supporters want him to contest as an independent candidate and he aims to ‘listen and respect the wishes of his supporters,’ he said. Interestingly, Hollohon, who was elected from Dimapur III A/C, is planning to contest from Ghaspani II Assembly Constituency, a stronghold of Congress MLA Rokonicha. It is worth mentioning that only last week, one minister, Tokheho Yepthomi and parliamentary secretaries P. Chuba Chang and Jongshilemba Ao resigned from their posts and withdrew their support to the DAN Government.
Meanwhile, Cabinet Secretary Lalhuma today notified that State Governor Shankaranaryaranan has accepted the resignation of Forest Minister Kheto from the Council of ministers. Lalhuma also notified that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has accepted the resignation of Parliamentary Secretary Kihoto Hollohon from the post with immediate effect.
