‘DAN is serious with Naga political issue’

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today asserted that in view of some government employees staying away from duty, but regularly drawing their monthly salaries has automatically destroyed the ‘work culture’ of the Nagas which is in great need to rescue without any further delayed.

Speaking as the chief guest during the inauguration of Chiechama village council hall, today here at Chiechama some 30 Kms away from Kohima Town, Rio said that Nagas are abundantly blessed by Almighty since time immemorial with multi-talents, following the misutilization of all those beautiful gifts Nagas were now living under a critical juncture. 

Speaking on the topic of Naga political issue, Rio said that it is wrong on the part of the public urging the national political groups to unite; the general people should first reconciled among ourselves keeping aside the mentality of favoritism. Stressing on the fratricidal killings from among fellow brethrens by the Naga national political groups, Rio said ‘if Nagas did not overcome these problems at the right time, the unique history of the Nagas would face extinction at the later stage where we will be in the state of losing everything.’ He therefore urged the leaders present to be serious in the process of uniting the common people through reconciliation.

Stating that the DAN government is serious in dealing with the Naga political issue, Rio disclosed that specifically for the very issue five sitting were already held among the entire 60 sitting MLAs. He further stated that a joint consultative meeting will be held June 9 next which will be attended by all the sitting MLAs and representatives from Tribal Hohos, Churches, NGOs. Rio while urging the individual to contribute their due share in the ongoing process also appealed them to pray for the speedy solution.

Stating the importance of running the affairs of the state under regional political parties, Rio said preserving cultural identity has much to do with the political power. Citing an instance of some states in India Rio said, states like UP, Bihar, MP, West Bengal, Orissa etc. those states despite having vast areas with multi-cultural identity, their cultures survive till date as the affairs of the state runs under regional party.

Appreciating the Chiechama Village Council (CVC) for timely implementation of the building project, Rio appealed to the people of Chiechama to utilize the hall as a building platform for unity, peace and a good bridged connecting with the neighboring communities.

Meanwhile, as per the building construction report, the work was started in the year 2006 where the three storey building was completed within a period of 4 and half years with an a total expenditure worth 51.40 lakh. The report also stated that a total income for the very construction stands 20 lakh from CM contribution, the Village council contribution at 26 lakh while the excess expenditure stands at 5 lakh.

Earlier, the function was chaired by Thejao Vihienuo, convenor Council hall building committee, opening prayer by Rev. Levi Rio, pastor, CRC Chiechama, welcome note by Kevisilie Rupreo VCC, special numbers by Centenary Choir, Cheichama and women group Catholic church Chiechama and vote of thanks by Yangulie Sanchu, President, Chiecha Razou Kehou.

The CM after inaugurating the Hall headed towards Longleng via Mokokchung where he will be attending the 2nd edition of Longleng Road Show-cum-Phom Day. Rio will be launching the year of entrepreneurship during the two days Road Show.
