DIMAPUR, MAY 26 (MExN): The Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) today appealed to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to conduct the by-election for the 10 Northern Angami-1 A/C at the earliest. During a meeting of the DAN Legislature party, including independent MLAs in Kohima today, the DAN acknowledged those MLAs who had “volunteered” to vacate their seats for the Chief Minister, and in particular former MLA Kriehu Liezietsu who vacated his seat. The DAN legislators endorsed the view that the CM should become a member of the NLA and work together as a “solid team to facilitate the same.” Meanwhile, the DAN further reiterated its position to “pave the way in the event of an honourable and amicable settlement arrived at as a result of the ongoing political talks.” It urged the centre to expedite the political dialogue and bring an early solution before the Assembly elections in 2018.
