Darogapathar council directs butcher shops

Dimapur, July 10 (MExN): In pursuance to the Extra Assistant Commissioner, Chümoukedima order and in the interest of public health and safety and the decision of the joint meeting of all village council chairmen and Head GBs along the National Highway-29 from Purana Bazaar to Chümoukedima held on June 29, the Darogapathar Village Council has directed all the open butcher shops within its jurisdiction along the highway to close down with immediate effect and make necessary arrangement to sell meat/fish etc in a well maintained and hygienic enclosure/room inside a proper building or market.  

A press release from the Council secretary, K Ado Bizo and chairman, Nungtok Meren Jamir, further directed all meat shops to ensure correct quantity and quality of meat sold to the customers by using electronic digital weighing scale and by sourcing good, healthy animals only. The meat shops within Darogapathar village were also directed to strictly adhere to the rates fixed by the Chümoukedima Town Council as the upper limit/ceiling or the rates as fixed by the Darogapathar Village Council.  

Any open butcher shop failing to comply with the directives of the council shall be penalized as per the decision of the council, the release cautioned.
