David Bowie's "Lazarus" video is a parting gift for his fans

Bowie died peacefully Sunday January 10th at the age of 69 after an 18 month battle with cancer. He celebrated his 69th birthday on Friday January 8th and also released what will be his final album. Tony Visconti, the producer of Bowie's new album "Blackstar", has confirmed that Bowie planned it to be a final farewell to his fans. David Bowie to be honoured at Brit Awards In a statement on Visconti's Facebook page, he said: "He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life - a work of Art. He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift. I knew for a year this was the way it would be. I wasn't, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life. He will always be with us. For now, it is appropriate to cry."

  The album release was planned to be at the end of the great singers life. The videos for "Blackstar" and "Lazarus" have a more significant meaning after Bowie's passing. They are hauntingly beautiful and make an extraordinary addition to his vast musical legacy.
