Dimapur, December 16 (MExN): The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) on Tuesday expressed “profound outrage and strongest condemnation” over a “heinous and cowardly act of violence” in Aoyimkum village, allegedly perpetrated by unidentified armed miscreants belonging to a faction on the night of December 15.
In a statement, the DAYO alleged that the armed group entered a private home at midnight and fired “several rounds of gunfire inside the house in the presence of elderly parents, women and children,” calling it a “blatant display of lawlessness and an act of terror.” The assailants then forcibly abducted the said member along with four other individuals, DAYO claimed.
Terming the incident a “brazen violation of human rights and the sanctity of a private home,” the DAYO said such acts of “terrorism and intimidation have no place in a civilised society.”
The organisation also questioned the “silence of the concerned authorities” and demanded to know why no action has been taken for what it called “brazen violations of the ceasefire ground rules.”
“DAYO stands firmly against such anti-social elements and acts of terrorism and reaffirms that the safety and well-being of our members are of paramount importance,” the statement from its Media Cell added.
