DIMAPUR, JUNE 5 (MExN): The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) expressed its support to the Nagaland Government notification to remove all check gates within the State and curb illegal collection of money.
“It is one of the best public welfare decisions made in recent memory and the citizens are already reaping the fruits as prices of most essential commodities have been drastically reduced. This historic landmark step taken by the government of the day in tackling the issue of illegal and multiple taxation will go a long way to make a vibrant economy and a revenue generating State,” a press release from the union said.
It called upon local entrepreneurs to take this opportune moment to take control of the economy “as we compete in an atmosphere of free trade and enterprise.” The DAYO said it has a resolute stand against any monopoly or syndicate practices that will not allow new and young entrepreneurs to venture into business.
In order to make Dimapur safe and secured in collaboration with the authority, the DAYO has been operating its helpline no 8974851911, with monitoring members to respond to genuine grievances.
The DAYO asked the Government of Nagaland not succumb to any pressure groups or vested interest groups that tries to confuse the people for their ends. “If any genuine modification or changes has to be made in the notification, appropriate stakeholders especially business and transport associations should be taken into confidence,” it stated.
“All leaders from various tribal apex bodies and various communities of Dimapur should be consulted for any review. It is the bounden duty of every right thinking citizens and genuine civil organisations to extend their support and cooperation for such a decisive and bold notification,” it added.
The DAYO appealed to the public to say "enough is enough" to bear the burden of hyperinflation due to illegal collection of taxes. It said the union will not be a silent spectator but play an active role to see that “this historic decision brings the much needed change at this time of transition in our society.”
It reiterated the ‘One Government, One Tax’ stand as a “people's mandate to eradicate unabated taxation.”“As long as we are under the Constitution of India we should abide by the GST Act of 2017 that implemented ‘One Nation, One Tax,’” the union said.
