DAYO supports NFHRCC’s demand

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 3 (MExN): The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) has extended support to the 4-day deadline served by the Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) to the state government to issue a work order for the two-lane Foothills Road project within four days.

The demand made during an emergency consultative meeting held on December 2 has resolved to withdraw all members of the 12 tribes from the ongoing Hornbill Festival if the deadline is not met.

In a press release, DAYO said it has been consistent and resilient in extending unflinching support to the NFHRCC in its endeavour to ensure that the “Naga's dream road from Tizit in Mon district to Khelma in Peren district becomes a reality for the citizens of Nagaland.”

In spite of 148.5 crore being embarked for the upgrade of the foothill road under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment as stated in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly's budget session of 2024-25, the  work order for the said project has been inordinately delayed, it, however, lamented.

Terming the road project as truly an extraordinary road project, without involvement of any land without any compensation or any monetary demand, the DAYO also said the re-alignment of the said road will in no means be allowed to suit the self interest of any individuals unless approved by the official Committee.
