DBT to train 2600 youth in 2016

Dimapur, January 9 (MExN): Don Bosco Tech Society, Dimapur region aims at training 2600 less privileged unemployed youth and provide them job placement under “MISSION 2016”. This was decided during the annual meeting of Don Bosco Tech Dimapur region on 4-5 January 2016 at its regional head office at AIDA, Dimapur.   “We want to train and provide job placement to 2600 less privileged youth with minimum education qualification through the 10 Don Bosco skill training cenrtes in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Upper Assam, Nagaland and Manipur,” said Bro. Sunny Joseph, who is the Dimapur Regional Director of Don Bosco Tech. “This is part of Don Bosco Tech’s ambitious plan of skilling 2 million youth across India by 2022,” he further added.   To reach this target each of the 10 skill training centres are given target. Employment oriented skill training is provided for two months and successful candidates are given job placement. “We have placed our candidates in companies such as Taj group of hotels, JW Marriott, Radisson Blue, Le Meridian, Jiva Spa and so on. Though they are from very rural background at the end of two-month training these youth are ready for work anywhere in the country and in companies of international standards”, Bro. Sunny added in his presentation to the training faculty during the two-day meeting. Emphasizing the priority of making the rural youth self-dependent and productive members in society he said that by 2018 Don Bosco Tech Dimapur region target to have 25 skill training centres under its operational area. It was decided that each training centre will adopt a district for skill training.   The two-day meet began with a key note address by Fr. Nebu Mathew, the administrator of Salesian province of Dimapur. In his key note address Fr. Nebu called upon the training faculty to believe in the inner quality of the youth they train. “The youth whom you train may be from poor background with less education qualification but they are capable of turning around the hostile situation provided they are given right atmosphere. You can do that”, he said.  

In Nagaland, Don Bosco Tech is engaging with Axis Bank Foundation in skilling the youth. Since June 2011 Don Bosco Tech in Nagaland has trained 2956 young people and placed 2229 of them. In 2016 Don Bosco Tech has a plan to train 1000 youth in Nagaland.   Don Bosco Tech is a network of more than 300 skill training centres spread across 29 states in the country making it the largest NGO engaged in livelihood training in India. 546 hours of training including 60 hours of soft skills are provided to the trainees.   Don Bosco Tech was established in 2006 as a social organization under aegis of Salesians of Don Bosco for the explicit purpose of providing employability skills to the needy youth with 300 plus centres across 29 states with more than 1650 staff. Don Bosco Tech works with 75 network partners to actualize the mission of skilling India. Don Bosco’s stakeholders include government, NGOs, corporate entities, civil society and like-minded organizations.
