DC & DEO Kohima cautions against bribe

Kohima, February 3 (DIPR): The Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer of Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, has cautioned the general public that any offer of cash, liquor, gift items or free food to the electors during election process is bribe. “Both the persons offering and accepting such bribes are liable for punishment with imprisonment up to one year and fine,” the DC & DEO stated in a press release. The release further informed that Flying Squads and Surveillance Teams have been formed to keep watch over such activities and to check movement of items meant for inducement of electors during the election process. Any member of public may inform such incidents of bribe to the Complaint Monitoring Control Room No. 0370- 2291136, it added.
