Kiphire, May 4 (MExN): The parents teachers meeting of the Zisaji Presidency College was held at the auditorium of the college with Deputy Commissioner, Kesonyu Yhome (IAS) as the special guest today. The event was attended by parents, NGO, church and student leaders.
Addressing the meeting, Kesonyu Yhome (IAS) said that the PTA meeting is not for the parents or teachers but it is for the welfare of the student community. He stated that children are the greatest assets of the parents. However he questioned as to whether parents are performing their duties by learning where their children are heading towards.
Pointing out that no person in the district has come up to discuss the improvement of ZPC, the DC said, “If there is no community participation, even if a person comes with full dedication and enthusiasm to serve; it will definitely die off.”
Expressing his concern over the improvement of the education sector in the district, the DC lamented that the objectives of various student bodies are lost. He added that the “prime objective of a student organization should be for the welfare of schools and colleges and not only for financial matters.” The DC also urged everyone to perform their duties for the welfare of the institute.
Expressing concern, the special guest said, “The future of ZPC is bleak and this is the right time to intervene.” He asked the members present to pass this message to all cross sections of society so that higher education would improve in the district.
Delivering the key note address Dr Anungla Aier, Principal of the ZPC asserted that if education is not improved, no other developmental activities would progress. The principal also urged the people to send their students to the ZPC. She stated that the college has good faculty and infrastructure which would enable proper education of the students.
R.Y Moses welcomed the gathering while Dr Purna Chandra spoke on behalf of the teachers association. The vote of thanks was proposed by Lisepi while Kedo chaired the program. On behalf of the parents and the guardians, R. Joshua and Thomas also spoke in the programme.
