
Kohima, March 17 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Kohima, W. Honje Konyak has banned the carrying of arms and ammunition in the district including suspension of all Arms Licenses issued in the District and that no New Arms License will be issued till the completion of Parliamentary elections 2014. That all licensed fire arms and ammunition should be deposited at the nearest police stations on or before 28th of March 2014, failing which arms licenses shall be liable for cancellation under section 17 of the Arms Act 1959.
In this connection all the Village Council Chairman have been directed to instruct the villagers who are possessing licensed fire arms and ammunition to be deposited at the nearest police stations. The Village Council should make necessary arrangement to keep all licensed fire arms and ammunition under each jurisdiction within the village in case of the villagers finds it difficult to deposit at the police stations under intimation to the Office of the DC Kohima.
