Kohima, August 3 (MExN): The Government of India has announced 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' campaign as the culminating event of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' envisaging paying of tributes to 'Veers' (Bravehearts), the Deputy Commissioner Kohima Shanavas C told a coordination meeting of the campaign on Thursday.
The tributes can be undertaken in the form of erecting memorials in all villages/towns expressing, conducting ceremonies at such locations, which will include hoisting of National Flags, taking pledge by holding a fistful of soil (mitti), planting of tree saplings along with 'Mitti Yatra' from all the blocks leading to the final event at Delhi, he said.
He highlighted on the concept note of the campaign and the proposed dates to be conducted in village/town levels, block level and larger urban local bodies/municipalities and sought active participation from all the concerned departments in their respective areas to make the programme a success, informed the State DIPR.
The DC convened meeting further deliberated on the work assignments allotted to various departments and worked out the action plan for smooth and successful conduct of the campaign in the district, it added.
