Kohima, February 12 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner & Chairman DLCC Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie NCS has directed the enforcement team to carry out a drive in all the notified public places and monitor by exercising the power conferred by section 21, 24 and 25 of the cigarette and others Tobacco products (Prohibition of advertisement and regulation of the trade and commerce production, supply and distribution) Act 2003 and for effective implementation of Section 4 & 6 of COTPA 2003.
Section 4 - Prohibition of smoking in public places; Section 6 - (a) Prohibition on sale of cigarette or other tobacco products to a person below the age of 18 years. (b) Prohibition on sale of tobacco products in an area within a radius of 100 yards of an educational institutions.
The Chairman has notified the above observing the high increase of smoking rate in public places.
