DC Kohima inaugurates training on search and rescue

KOHIMA, APRIL 16 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, R Ramakrishnan (IAS) inaugurated the two-day training on search and rescue for Kohima district under Disaster Risk Management Programme at State Academy Hall, Kohima this morning.

Speaking on the occasion the Deputy Commissioner said that the training is a part of the year long training conducted under Disaster Risk Management. He said that the training is conducted in a district level and said that such programmes will be conducted even in the block and village levels. Since disasters may occur any time the Deputy Commissioner said that such trainings will prepare the people to deal with disaster related problems effectively and also cautioned the people to be prepared for any calamity.

Resource persons at the training included District Commandant, Home Guards & Deputy Controller, Civil Defence, Medo Pienyü, Asst. Commandant 128 NDRF BSF Chedema, Er. Vipin Kumar Yadav and Medical Officer, PHC, Viswema, Dr. Lolekhol Pucho. The topics include ‘introduction to the concept of Disaster Management and Search and Rescue’, ‘Presentation on Earthquake Hazards’ and ‘Presentation on General SAR Operation and other Hazards’.

There will be demonstration, physical drill and movie/slide show on the concluding day on 17th April. The training is being organized by the Kohima District Disaster Management Committee and the Kohima District Administration.
