DC Longleng issues public notice on protection of Amur Falcon

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 4 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner, Longleng M. Shayung Phom in a notification has informed that the annual migration of Amur Falcons to Nagaland is expected to arrive soon within few days in large number in the district. 
It stated that Amur Falcon is protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, so trapping, killing and selling of Amur Falcon is a criminal offence punishable with 3 years rigorous imprisonment or with a fine of Rs 25,000 or both under Section 51 of the said Act. 


Therefore, the administrative officers, concerned departments, village councils, ward presidents and NGOs of Longleng have been directed to give wide publicity to the mass under their respective jurisdiction. At the same time, the general public has been directed to comply to this restraining order with strict compliance.  Appropriate action shall be initiated to the defaulters as per the provision of the Act, it added.
