DC Mon informs on free movement between India and Myanmar

Mon, January 20 (DIPR): In connection with the amended earlier 1968 Notification of the Ministry of Home Affairs Government of India issued on 21.07.2010 and which came into force w.e.f 21.08.2010, the Deputy Commissioner, Mon Dinesh Kumar, IAS has informed all concern that as per the Notification every members of the hills tribe, who is either a citizen of India or a citizen of Myanmar and who is ordinarily resident of any area within sixteen kilometres on either side of India-Myanmar Border, entering India across the said boarder shall be in possession of a valid permit issued by the authority of Government of India or the Government of Myanmar or issued by the designated issuing authority of the respective Governments. He/She shall not, on the basis of the permit move into the area in India, which is beyond 16 KMs from the aforesaid frontier.
