MON, JUNE 1 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Mon today issued an order stating that no village/ward authorities, individuals or groups are allowed to issue "Shoot-at-Sight" order for pets especially dogs. Such an act is a punishable offence under Section 3 & 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, the DC cautioned.
The order added that any village/ward authority or any individual/group acting in contravention of this order shall be liable for legal proceedings under Section 428 & 429 of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
It meanwhile directed all pet owners to prevent their pets from straying outside their respective home premise at all times. “Action shall be initiated under relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 against the owner of pets that are found loitering in towns/villages,” it added.
