DC Phek on traffic restriction along Kohima- Jessami road

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 30 (MExN): In partial modification to the travel advisory issued on September 27, Deputy Commissioner Phek, Kuko Mero, has informed that the stretch of Kohima- Jessami (Package-II) on NH-29 road from existing Km 30.474 to existing Km 53.220 (Designed Km 29.600 to Km 51.5) has been damaged severely due to landslide and rock-falls on multiple occasions. 

The concerned construction company is on job for maintenance and restoration work on this particular road stretch. But the said road portion has been severely damaged due to plying of heavy loaded trucks, and at the same time regular works are obstructed due to frequent movement of vehicles. 

Therefore, in the interest and safety of all and to ensure smooth maintenance works, movement of light and medium vehicles carrying a load below 11.5 metric tons along the aforementioned stretch is restricted from 5 PM to 8 PM with immediate effect till October 2. In this connection, commuters have been advised to take the alternative route ie, via Zuketsa (for light and medium vehicles), the DC informed. 

Further, the notification informed that the bridge at Km. 36.950 (Kohima-Jessami road, Package-II) on NH-29 has been severely damaged. Therefore, movement of heavy/medium vehicles carrying a load of 11.5 metric tons and above is completely restricted.
