DC Tsg informs on Indigenous Inhabitant & ST certificates

Tuensang, March 11 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland has introduced a new format for issue of Indigenous Inhabitant and Scheduled Tribe certificates which is being implemented with immediate effect by the office of the Deputy Commissioner.

Informing this in a press release, the DC Tuensang Alem Jongshi said that this new format has been introduced by the government to check “even more stringently” ineligible persons trying to obtain the certificates which are meant only for the indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland.

However, with the introduction of the new format, the process of issuing the Indigenous Inhabitant and Scheduled Tribe certificates is expected to take longer than it did with the old format. This is because more areas of verification have been introduced. Necessary details can be sought or clarified from this office on all working days, it informed.

The DC Tuensang added that this information is made specifically because it has been noticed in the past that applicants apply for the certificates only at the last moment. “If this practice is continued, certificates may not be issued on time for which this office shall not be held accountable,” said the DC.   “Therefore, anybody who wishes to obtain Indigenous Inhabitant and Scheduled Tribe certificates from the office of DC Tuensang are requested to apply well in advance. The public is further requested to cooperate with this new initiative of the government which is done in the interest of the indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland,” the DC stated.
