
Zunheboto, May 30 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas has stated that sale of illegal lottery/games like Shillong Teer, Nagaland Arrow, Raja Rani etc, being sold at the town are completely illegal and contravenes to the Lottery (Regulation) Act, 1998.
Accordingly, in an order, the DC informed that any person acting as an agent or selling, distributing or purchasing the tickets of such lotteries would be punishable with rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine or with both.
Such offence is cognisable and non-biable, it said.
In this connection, the DC further directed ZCCI (Zunheboto Chamber of Commerce & Industries) to check and inform all the shopkeepers to cease such activities.
The Zunheboto Town Council and head DBs were also directed to inspect the sale of such illegal lotteries by the shopkeepers and gave monthly report to the DC office.
As per the State DIPR, the order was issued in pursuance with the Finance Department, Lottery Branch letter dated May 1, regarding the sale of illegal lotteries in the State of Nagaland.
