DCC demands ‘unconditional apology’

Dimapur, August 22 (MExN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and its subsidiaries have demanded unconditional apology from the Deputy Commissioner Maongwati Aier for making statement against the business community in Dimapur. The DCC claimed that Maongwati stated that the businessmen extorts money from the public by charging extra rate on various essential commodities.

The DCC in a press release issued by its president stated: “It is unfortunate that the head of the district administration can be so irresponsible and reckless in making public statement by terming the business community of his own district as extortionist”

The DCC disclosed that the prices of essential commodities are being fixed by the DMC under consultation with the administration and other category goods are sold in the market within the printed price structure (MRP) and that the question of extortion of money from the public by businessmen does not arise, it stated.

The note also went on saying that in spite of rampant extortions, kidnapping, “Chakkabandh” and other forms of prevailing anti-social atrocities on business community, the traders have always been cooperative to the administration and bearing the burden of all the additional expenses meted upon them by means of anti-social activities.

It said: “Shall we not ask the DC whether he has been sleeping all the time when the business community has been suffering? Is he not putting the blame of his failure on the business community?”
