Peren, June 13 (MExN): The District Congress Committee (DCC), Peren has requested the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) of Peren to dispose off the case involving TR Zeliang (criminal complaint case NO. 04/15 U/S 125 'A' of The Representative of Peoples Act 1951) at the earliest possible time and deliver justice to the people of the State.
In a letter to the JMFC, DCC Peren President, Aluibe Iheilung mentioned that a criminal complaint had been lodged to the JMFC Peren’s court on January 18, 2016 and appearance of the respondent, Chief Minister TR Zeliang was fixed on February 23.
However, it said, the respondent had dragged the case to the High Court Kohima bench “deliberately to deny justice and delay the proceeding of the case.” Thereafter, a series of summons and hearing of the case were issued and fixed by the courts, but till date no justice has been delivered after a lapse of almost six months of filing the complaint, it stated.
“We trust your integrity in the judicial system and anticipate that you will do justice to the case without fear or favour and deliver a fair judgement and gain the confidence and trust of the people seeking justice under your honourable court,” the letter said.
Meanwhile, the DCC expressed happiness that the JMFC Peren has “promptly” issued summon to the respondent to appear before its court on June 14, 2016.
The letter further reminded that if justice is not delivered to the people in due time, the complainant may have no other option but seek the intervention of the Supreme Court of India.
