DCCI and NCD recommends DMC’s proposal

DIMAPUR, JULY 27 (MExN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Naga Council, Dimapur has recommended the proposal of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) to make it mandatory for all the shops/business establishments under DMC jurisdiction to keep in their respective shops, such as electronic weighing machine, fire extinguisher and a proper dust bin.

Inspecting the proposed items to be given to the business establishments on July 26 the DCCI members led by is President Hokivi Chishi and NCD members led by its vice president, Vikato Zhimo also recommended the subsidized rates at which the DMC is giving the proposed items to shops and business establishments. DMC subsidized rates are well below than market rates of Dimapur and Guwahati.

Hokivi Chishi said it should be made compulsory for all business establishments including all kinds of institutions, hostels, hotels, market complexes and even public places to have fire extinguishers. Also, all butchers and fish sellers should mandatorily install electronic weighing scale which will prevent them from duping the customers, he added.

Vikato Zhimo was of the view that apart from business establishments, private residences and other residential complexes can also install fire extinguishers and also use dust bins to be provided by the DMC. The proposed dust bins are more hygienic as the bin comes along with disposable plastic bags which are able to hold at least 32 kgs/litres of garbage.

The members of both the organizations were of the view that it is high time that people of Dimapur should be aware of potential fire hazard that lurks around all time with the people not knowing when it will strike next and also the need maintain proper hygiene.
