DCCI appeals for reopening of markets in Dimapur

Dimapur, July 3 (MExN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has once again appealed to the Dimapur district administration to take immediate steps for reopening of Hong Kong Market, New Market, Millennium Building Market and Hazi Park Market.

The opening of the four major markets was discussed and mutually agreed upon even during the last meeting of Dimapur District Task Force. Accordingly, the business community of the four markets had already sanitized and disinfected these areas, DCCI stated.

It mentioned that 110 days have passed since these markets have remained closed due to the lockdown, and the business community of these markets is undergoing untold sufferings and immense economic hardships, it added.

Urging the district to look into the genuine plight of the business community of these markets, the DCCI called for immediate reopening of the markets.

Meanwhile, the DCCI also said the district administration should also extend relief measures and assistance to mitigate the suffering of the affected business community.

It appealed to both the Dimapur Municipal Council and private building owners to exempt or waive off rent of commercial buildings and rooms on humanitarian grounds.
