Peren, May 27 (DIPR): District Child Protection Unit, Peren organized one day ‘open house discussion on child mechanism’ on May 25 at Forest conference hall, Jalukie with Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe, Society Director State Child Protection Society, Rampaukai, Asst. Conservator of Forest, Robin, SFO (C) Peren, JJB Members, CWC members, SJPU, CCI, village Councils, women organization, Stallholders and Village Level Child Protection Committee.
Speaking at the programme, the Society Director highlighted about the ICPS and stated that every individual in the society should be responsible in protecting the child rights to have a peaceful Society. He stated that people should not adopt children from unrecognized agencies or unrelated person because it is illegal. He emphasised on the importance of CHILDLINE No 1089, a National 24 hours toll free services for children in need of care and protection.
Resource person Asungbe spoke on the Juvenile Justice System & Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. He urged that no child was discriminated, abused, abandoned, neglected and exploited in the Society as they are the fountain of life. He also stated that Children have rights like adult. Human rights are for all, children need extra care and protection by reason of his/mental immaturity, needs special care including appropriate legal protection before as well as after birth.
Nyuthe further emphasised on NALSA (child friendly Legal services to children and their protection) scheme, 2015. He further stated that POCSO Act is a gender neutral and it provides for child-Friendly measure at every stage of Legal process where the dignity and autonomy of the child must be respected. He challenge the participants to teach/educate the child to trust their feelings & that it is OK to say no when somebody they know does something they do not like and know the difference between safe and unsafe touch. Encourage child to build self esteem and confidence.
