Dimapur, August 31 (MExN): The JV Basketball Court at Signal Angami in Dimapur came alive on Friday as the Dimapur District Basketball Association (DDBA) hosted a one-day 3x3 Basketball Tournament featuring 29 teams, including 24 men’s and 5 women’s sides, in a league-cum-knockout competition.
In the men’s final, Highlanders defeated Orca 18–15 in a closely fought match. Orca’s James scored 9 points, with Kevin adding 4, to keep their team in contention. However, the Highlanders secured victory through a balanced effort with Chumben contributing 4 points, Atsiezo 6, and Sede 5, backed by sharp passing and timely baskets. Chumben Kikon of Highlanders was declared the Men’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).
In the women’s category, ABC (B) overcame ABC (A) with a 9–4 scoreline in the final. While Asang and Theja fought for ABC (A), it was Sungjemenla of ABC (B) who led the way with 6 points. Imtila and Nisino added crucial baskets to ensure victory. Neiseno of ABC (B) was named the Women’s MVP.
The organisers extended appreciation to B-Level referees Salew Kadete and Seyievizo Kire along with local officials for their role in officiating.
