DDCF appeals for inclusion of recognised indigenous tribes in police recruitment

Dimapur, October 2 (MExN): The Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) has expressed ‘shock’ over the exclusion of certain recognized indigenous tribes from a Nagaland Police constable recruitment drive, while also appreciating the open advertisement.

In a statement, the forum said it was a “great joy” for job aspirants from the state's recognized indigenous tribes to see the open recruitment advertisement (Order No. PHQ (B-1)1/recruitment/constables/2023, dated September 30, 2025).

“We appreciate the department for coming out with such an open recruitment drive and hope that even in the future recruitment of all ranks will be open and free from hiccups,” the DDCF stated.

However, the forum said it was “shocked at the exclusion of other recognized indigenous inhabitants/tribes of Nagaland such as Garo, Kachari, Kuki, and Mikirs.”

“Such discrimination to these recognized indigenous tribes was never seen before,” it added.

The DDCF appealed to the concerned authority to “amend/rectify the advertisement order and include all the bonafide recognized indigenous tribes in the recruitment.”
