Dimapur, May 23 (MExN): With Nagaland all set for municipal elections on June 26, with the historic 33% reservation for women, the Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) has appealed and expressed hope that political parties will provide opportunities to the most deserving candidates.
Most importantly, these opportunities should be given to intending candidates who are genuinely willing to serve and foster development, without any bias, it emphasized.
In the context of Dimapur, the forum stated that any capable and willing genuine indigenous citizen of Dimapur should also be allowed to contest.
The DDCF further urged all citizens of Dimapur to come forward and exercise their right to vote in the upcoming urban local bodies elections responsibly, choosing the best leaders for their respective wards.
It encouraged unity in rejecting any forms of biases or intimidations, and resisting the influence of muscle power and money, setting an example to uphold the true spirit of democracy through the clean election movement.
The DDCF also extended its best wishes to all intending candidates of the upcoming ULB elections and urged them to contest in the true spirit of democracy.
