DDCF urges to resolve border disputes

Dimapur, July 29 (MExN): The Dimapur District Citizen’s Forum (DDCF) on Thursday urged Nagaland state government to look into boundary disputes in and around Dimapur district in order to bring lasting peace in the region.
The forum, in a representation to the state Chief Secretary, noted that no definite boundary demarcations have been done since the creation of Dimapur district in December 1997. As a result, it said, disputes between villages from the neighbouring district like Peren and Dimapur have occurred, often leading to incidents where anti-social and anti-peace actions have been observed. “This has resulted even in the loss of life and properties which is very unwanted,” the representation stated. It also attributed the boundary disputes of Dimapur district with the neighbouring districts of Assam “to the absence of proper definition or demarcation of the geographical areas.” In this context, the DDCF requested the Chief Secretary to put extra effort and look into the matter of boundary disputes.
